Man pours petrol on himself at GHMC’s Prajavani programme
Hyderabad: In a shocking incident, a man attempted to take his own life during a Prajavani programme, a weekly grievance redressal programme, held by Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) pertaining to the Town Planning section, on Monday.
In a viral video, the man is seen pouring petrol on himself and threatening to end his life if the government failed to suspend the Town Planning ACP and Musheerabad DCP officials immediately. Policemen and vigilance officials present at the meeting prevented him from torching himself.
The victim was identified as Anil Kumar, a resident of Ramnagar. Anil alleged that Musheerabad ACP Devender had taken bribes from his rival and worked against his interests. He also claimed the Town Planning DCP was involved in the matter and was denying him justice.
“I filed a complaint (with the Town Planning officials) six months ago but no action has been taken. My uncle is illegally constructing a house on my grandfather’s property, depriving us of our legal share.”
During the last week’s Prajavani programme, the civic body received over 20 requests related to the Town Planning section.
