Man Jumps From Amberpet Flyover While Stealing Materials

Hyderabad: In a shocking incident, a man jumped off an under-construction flyover in Amberpet after locals raised an alarm upon noticing him stealing construction materials. The accused has been identified as Ramulu, a resident of Falaknuma.

According to reports, Ramulu was stealing some construction-related equipment from an under-construction flyover. As the locals tried to catch him, the accused leapt off the flyover hoping to land on a nearby tree. However, he slipped and fell on the ground resulting in grievous injuries.

After receiving a call, the police rushed to the spot and shifted the accused to a nearby hospital. He is currently undergoing treatment and is stated to be in a stable condition.

It is reported that he was drunk at the time of stealing and wanted to sell the stolen equipment to get some money to buy alcohol. The police have registered a case and are investigating.

The 1.5-km long Amberpet flyover is expected to be inaugurated soon. The flyover covers the stretch between Golnaka and Purnodaya colony, near MCH Quarters. The construction workers are carrying out minor works to make the flyover ready for inauguration by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy.

According to the officials, the flyover will reduce travel time for motorists entering the city from the Warangal Highway. It was built with a cost of Rs. 450 crore. The civic body spent Rs. 300 crore for acquiring land for the constriction of the flyover. The construction works on the Amberpet flyover started in 2018 with an initial budget of Rs. 216 crore. The Central government had initially sanctioned Rs. 76.33 crore towards construction. The construction work began in 2021 and the project was set for completion in 2023.
