Man collapses during screening of Chiranjeevi film in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: A man died after collapsing while watching a newly released film starring Chiranjeevi at a theatre in Hyderabad on Monday, police said.
According to initial reports, the incident occurred at Arjun Theatre in Kukatpally during the opening-day screening of Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu. The deceased was identified as Anand Kumar, around 50 years old, a retired Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI).
Theatre staff alerted the police after noticing the man collapse during the screening. Police rushed to the spot and shifted him for medical attention, but doctors declared him dead. A cardiac arrest is suspected to be the cause of death, officials said.
Further details are awaited, and police said an investigation is under way to ascertain the circumstances leading to the incident.

The film, which also stars Nayanthara, released worldwide on January 12, 2026. Directed by Anil Ravipudi, the action-comedy opened to packed theatres across regions.
