ACB nabs Mamada SI for ₹20,000 bribe in Nirmal district

NIRMAL: A Sub Inspector of Police posted at Mamada police station in Nirmal district was caught by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹20,000 to show official favour.

The accused officer, T. Ashok, was trapped by the Anti-Corruption Bureau Telangana, Adilabad unit, on March 23, 2026. He allegedly demanded and accepted the bribe from a complainant at the SI quarters located behind the police station.

According to officials, the officer sought the money in return for not booking a case against the complainant based on a complaint received against him. The ACB said the tainted amount was recovered from the officer’s possession at his instance.

Officials stated that the officer “performed his duties improperly and dishonestly in order to obtain undue advantage.” He has been arrested and will be produced before the Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases in Karimnagar.

Complainant details withheld; ACB urges public to report graft

The identity of the complainant has been withheld for security reasons. The case is under investigation.

The ACB has urged citizens to report instances of bribery by public servants through its toll-free helpline 1064. Complaints can also be lodged via WhatsApp (9440446106) and social media platforms, including Facebook and X.
