Malla Reddy college students arrested in drug case

Hyderabad: Six students of Malla Reddy College were arrested in a drug case after police seized ganja and hash oil from their possession, officials said on Tuesday.
Drugs seized during operation
Police recovered 2 kg of ganja and 1.5 litres of hash oil from the students during the operation. The seizure was made after specific information was received about drug peddling involving college students, police said.
Two caught selling, four while purchasing
According to investigators, two students were caught while selling the drugs, while four others were detained while attempting to purchase the contraband. All six were taken into custody and questioned.
Contraband sourced from Odisha
Preliminary inquiry revealed that the students had travelled from Hyderabad to Odisha to procure the ganja and transport it back to the city. Police said the drugs were intended for distribution among students.
Two students absconding
Police said two more students linked to the case are absconding. Efforts are under way to trace their whereabouts and take them into custody.
SOT teams launched search
Special teams from the Special Operations Team have been deployed to track down the absconding accused. Further investigation is under way to identify possible links to a wider drug network, police added.
