Malkajgiri Railway Station To Undergo Major Revamp With Rs. 27.6 Crore Investment

MALKAJGIRI: The Malkajgiri railway station is nearing completion after a major upgrade under the Amrit Bharat scheme. The South Central Railway’s Hyderabad Division has taken up the works at a cost of ₹28 crore.

Escalators, lifts, waiting hall and platform works near completion

Facilities including three escalators, three lifts across three platforms, a waiting hall, platform roofing, toilets, and tea and tiffin counters are in the final stage. Entry and exit gates are being designed in a Rajasthani architectural style.

Expansion of platforms, development of the circulating area, and access roads are also close to completion. Work is under way on a portico and false ceiling at the booking office, along with ramps for persons with disabilities.

Foot overbridge ready; selfie points and fountain pending

A 12-metre-wide foot overbridge has been constructed. However, works such as the ‘Love Malkajgiri’ selfie point, tower point, and water fountain are yet to be completed.

Noor Ahmed, member of the Zonal Railway Users’ Consultative Committee and president of the rail and bus passengers’ association, said all trains should be given stoppage at the upgraded station.
