Malkajgiri police impose Section 163 restrictions near Intermediate exam centres
HYDERABAD: The Malkajgiri Commissionerate has imposed prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, around Intermediate Public Advanced Supplementary Examination centres from May 13 to May 21.
According to a notification issued by Commissioner of Police B. Sumathi, IPS, assembly of four or more persons has been prohibited within a 200-metre radius of all examination centres during the conduct of the examinations.
The Intermediate Public Advanced Supplementary Examinations are scheduled to be held daily from 09.00 IST to 12.00 IST and from 14.30 IST to 17.30 IST between May 13 and May 21.
The order will come into force from 06.00 IST on May 13 and remain effective till 18.00 IST on May 21 across all examination centres under the limits of the Malkajgiri Commissionerate.
Police said the restrictions were imposed to maintain public order, prevent obstruction to persons lawfully engaged in examination duties, and avoid disturbance to public tranquillity during the examination period.
Exemptions listed for official personnel
The notification exempted police officers on official duty, military personnel, Home Guards, flying squads of the education department and bona fide funeral processions from the operation of the order.
The commissionerate also directed that all photocopy (Xerox) and internet centres located within a 100-metre radius of examination centres remain closed during examination hours from 08.00 IST to 18.00 IST on exam days.
Police said the closure of such centres was aimed at preventing malpractices and maintaining the secrecy and sanctity of the examinations.
Violators to face legal action
The public has been warned that any violation of the prohibitory orders will attract prosecution under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, and other applicable laws.
