Malkajgiri Officials Seal Illegal Buildings, Intensify Checks

MALKAJGIRI: Municipal officials have intensified action against unauthorised building constructions in Malkajgiri and Moula Ali circles following a rise in complaints from residents.
Officials said property owners who obtain municipal permissions and construct buildings according to approved plans do not face issues. However, several structures have been found either without approvals or in violation of sanctioned plans. In some cases, builders obtained permission for three floors but constructed four or five floors.
Four buildings sealed during inspections
Town planning officials have conducted extensive inspections in the two circles over the past four days. Four buildings have already been sealed.
Officials found that some owners were constructing additional floors beyond approved limits, while others obtained residential building permissions but were carrying out commercial construction activities.
Residents have alleged that such violations have continued for years and that officials failed to act for various reasons. Following an increase in complaints, the Town Planning Department issued notices to the builders earlier this year. When there was no response, officials sealed illegal constructions in Narsimha Reddy Nagar, Gautam Nagar, Sainathpuram and RK H Colony in February.
Fresh inspections in Jyothi Nagar and RK Nagar have identified unauthorised structures and buildings that violate approved norms. Action is being taken against them.
More notices issued to violators
Assistant Town Planning Officer Srinivas said notices had been issued to those who constructed buildings without obtaining approvals.
“We gave them two weeks to respond. As there was no satisfactory explanation, action was taken. The drive to seal illegal constructions in the Malkajgiri area will continue. Notices have also been issued to another 20 individuals. If they fail to provide explanations, strict action will follow,” he said.
He added that a Prajavani programme is being conducted every Monday to enable residents to submit complaints on illegal constructions directly to senior officials and raise other civic issues.
