Playtime Turns Fatal: 13-Year-Old Malakpet Girl Loses Life in Saree Swing Tragedy

HYDERABAD: A 13-year-old girl loses life after a saree swing tightened around her neck at her home in Malakpet on April 4, police said.
The girl, identified as Shivayasi Shresta, tied a saree to a ceiling fan in the afternoon and began playing on it. The cloth suddenly tightened around her neck, causing strangulation.
Her younger sibling saw her struggling to breathe and quickly alerted neighbours. Residents rushed in to help, and one neighbour cut the saree with scissors.
They immediately took her to a hospital in Hyderabad, where doctors tried to save her. However, she died later that night.
Malakpet police registered a case and have started an investigation.
