Fourth City to become new address of Malakpet Race Course?
Hyderabad: First, it was the KCR government. Now, the Revanth Reddy-led Congress government has set its eyes on the prime land of Malakpet race course in the heart of Hyderabad city. It is reliably learned that the Congress government is actively considering its relocation.
It is reported that discussions over shifting the race course have now advanced, and the government may take a final call on the proposal very soon.
Recently, the state government announced its plan to develop a new capital region dubbed the Fourth City near Mucherla after Hyderabad, Secunderabad, and Cyberabad. According to sources, the race course will be shifted to this upcoming city. The proposed alternative land parcel will be one-and-a-half times bigger than the current race club in Malakpet, which is managed by the Hyderabad Race Club (HRC).
Spread across a sprawling 168-acre, Hyderabad Race Club (HRC) has been an important landmark since 1886, a testament to the city’s rich history. It was originally developed at Moula Ali but was later relocated to Malakpet on the orders of the then Nizam, Mahboob Ali Khan.
The current dispensation is also considering acquiring the land in Amberpet. Several buildings in the City Police Line (CPL) are in dilapidated condition, and the state government is planning to utilize this vast tract of land to generate funds, which may be used to fund the Musi River Development Project.
