Kondapur: The Telangana Forest Department has fined Mahaveer Benz Servicing Center Rs. 53,300 for illegally cutting down three Gulmohar trees near Jain Heritage School in Masjid Banda, Kondapur.

The issue came to light when Human Rights Activist Vinay Vangala highlighted the incident on social media platform X, stating, “Here you go! Rs. 53,300 penalty levied on the violators by FRO Sri Laxman & Team. It got delayed due to changes in officials.”

A user on X raised the initial complaint, tweeting to @GHMCOnline and @ZC_SLP, “Trees hacked, probably by the under-construction building owners next to them. Location: Jain Heritage School, Masjid Banda, Kondapur.”

Speaking with the Hyderabad Mail, Vinay Vangala explained, “The Benz servicing center allegedly cut the trees due to visibility issues arising from the construction of their showroom. I followed up on local complaints, as it is essential to hold people accountable for cutting trees without permission from the authorities. It has become increasingly common for individuals to disregard tree protection laws. The fine serves as a deterrent, as people need to understand the gravity of cutting down trees without authorisation. Three trees were cut, which resulted in a fine of Rs. 53,300.”

Forest Range Officer of Chilkur Range, Laxman confirmed with Hyderabad Mail, “Three Gulmohar trees were cut down by the Mahaveer Benz Servicing Center, leading to the fine of Rs. 53,300.”

According to the Telangana Forest Department, the procedure for legally felling trees includes the following steps:
