HYDERABAD: Maharashtra Police have busted an alleged drug manufacturing facility in Kohir mandal of Sangareddy district. During the operation, officers seized narcotic substances, precursor chemicals and laboratory equipment worth ₹20.72 crore.

Drug Unit Found in Sangareddy

The alleged unit was operating from a two-acre farm at Peecheryagadi Thanda in Kohir mandal of Zaheerabad division. Acting on intelligence gathered during an interstate drug trafficking investigation, a team from the Mira-Bhayandar, Vasai-Virar (MBVV) Police Commissionerate raided the premises on May 29. The facility was later sealed.

Police disclosed details of the operation during a press conference in Thane on Tuesday.

Investigation Began With MD Seizure

The investigation started on April 4. Police raided a house in the Naya Nagar area of Mira Road East in Maharashtra’s Thane district and allegedly seized 1.324 kg of MD (Mephedrone).

A case was registered against Firoz Arbaz Qureshi and his wife, Arbaz Vakil Qureshi. Further investigation revealed links to a larger drug trafficking network operating across multiple states.

According to investigators, the Sangareddy facility contained sophisticated laboratory infrastructure. The setup was allegedly being used for the production of narcotic substances.

Multiple Arrests in Interstate Network

Police carried out a series of raids in Mumbai and arrested 15 persons suspected to be part of the network.

During questioning, investigators uncovered evidence of an interstate drug syndicate with links to Hyderabad and other locations. Further operations led to the arrest of Veeraswamy Naidu, Nasir Elias Baba Janimiya Shaikh and Mohmood Mehboob Khan from Hyderabad and Chhattisgarh.

Officials said the interrogation of Nasir provided crucial leads about the alleged manufacturing unit in Sangareddy district.

Based on the information gathered, investigators traced the operation to Peecheryagadi Thanda and conducted the raid.

Chemicals and Equipment Worth Crores Seized

During the operation, police seized large quantities of narcotic substances, precursor chemicals and laboratory equipment.

Officials estimated the value of the laboratory infrastructure at ₹6.22 crore. The total value of the drugs, chemicals and equipment seized during the investigation was estimated at ₹20.72 crore.

Police said further investigations are underway. Efforts are focused on identifying additional suspects and uncovering the full extent of the interstate drug network.
