KTR named in complaint over ex-MLA Gopinath’s death

HYDERABAD: Maganti Mahananda Kumari, mother of former Jubilee Hills MLA Maganti Gopinath, has lodged a police complaint seeking an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding her son’s death, alleging negligence and foul play.
Mother seeks probe into ex-MLA Gopinath’s death
She named Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) in her complaint, claiming that he visited her son at AIG Hospitals, Gachibowli, on June 6, 2025, while she was denied permission to see him.
Complaint alleges hospital access denial and medical negligence
In her statement, 92-year-old Mahananda Kumari said Gopinath, who was suffering from multiple ailments, was admitted to AIG Hospital on June 5 and declared dead on June 8. She alleged that hospital security, acting on written instructions signed by one “Dishira, daughter of Sunitha,” prevented her from meeting her son even when he was on a ventilator and after his death was declared.
She further stated that despite abnormal medical reports indicating deteriorating kidney function, those attending to Gopinath failed to initiate timely dialysis following the removal of one kidney. “The negligence and delay in medical intervention led to his untimely death,” she wrote in the complaint.
Mentions KTR’s hospital visit
Kumari alleged that K.T. Rama Rao was allowed to meet her son freely on June 6, while she was kept outside. “After meeting my son, KTR ignored my presence and left without speaking to me,” she said, claiming the incident deepened her suspicion of possible manipulation surrounding her son’s condition and access.
Calls for detailed police inquiry
She also sought an investigation into the conduct of her son’s personal gunmen and security personnel, alleging dereliction of duty at a critical time. The complaint, filed with Hyderabad police, requested a “comprehensive and impartial inquiry” into medical decisions, hospital restrictions, and the role of individuals involved.
Mahananda Kumari enclosed medical and histopathology reports from AIG Hospitals along with her petition. She alleged that a “criminal conspiracy” was carried out by Sunitha concerning her son’s health and cause of death.
