Madhavi Latha Removing Aimim Iftar Posters Outside Virinchi Hospitals In Hyderabad During Ramzan Controversy

HYDERABAD: Madhavi Latha, chairman of Virinchi Hospitals and the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) candidate in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, tore down posters advertising an iftar party organised by the Asaduddin Owaisi-led All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) outside her hospital on March 12.

Videos circulating on social media showed her removing the posters in front of Virinchi Hospitals. She criticised the party for spending money on iftar gatherings and questioned the purpose of such events during Ramzan.

“Who are you supposed to feed during Ramzan? You should feed the poor or children in juvenile homes instead of spending crores on parties in function halls. First learn the meaning of Ramzan and iftar,” she said.

Calls annual iftar events ‘publicity exercise’

In a post on social media platform X, Madhavi Latha criticised what she called lavish iftar events organised by AIMIM leaders in Hyderabad.

“Ramzan is a month of humility, charity, and service — not political spectacle. Every year, people in Hyderabad see the same drama. The Owaisi brothers and their party organise extravagant one-time iftar parties with huge publicity,” she wrote.

Says community issues remain unaddressed

She also alleged that the events focus on publicity rather than solving community issues.

“Cameras flash, tables look lavish, and speeches are made. But the next morning, the community’s real problems remain the same,” she wrote.

Later, we found that she had deleted that post.

The AIMIM has not responded to her remarks so far.
