Madhapur police bust drug network, DJ among arrested in NDPS Act raid
Hyderabad: Madhapur police arrested people involved in illegal drug activities, including a well-known DJ, under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.
According to the information, authorities conducted discreet surveillance of the DJ’s activities. It is notable that the DJ often visited pubs in the Madhapur and Gachibowli areas after consuming drugs. This surveillance also involved individuals associated with the DJ, ultimately leading to the identification of 16 suspects involved in drug-related activities.
After taking a decisive step, the suspects underwent drug screening using a 12-panel Abbott Urine testing kit. The results confirmed that two individuals, including the DJ, tested positive for Cocaine and Cannabis. As a result, they were taken into custody under Case No. 725/2024, U/s. 27 of the NDPS Act, registered at Madhapur Police Station, Cyberabad.
An individual who was previously arrested for having moderate amounts of cocaine but then successfully rehabilitated tested negative. This shows that our efforts to prevent drug abuse are working, said the police.
In an effort to combat drug proliferation in educational institutions, the Anti-Narcotics Bureau recommended implementing strict measures, including regular checks for substances such as e-cigarettes, vapes, and narcotics-laced items, which are often smuggled by senior students coercing juniors.
The Director of the Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau concluded by reaffirming their dedication to combating the drug problem and protecting the future of young people through cooperation with educational institutions and vigilant community members.
Additionally, schools and colleges were encouraged to form Anti-Drug Committees (ADCs) to support law enforcement in monitoring and reporting potential drug-related incidents involving students.
