How a DCM hit and dragged a scooty for 1 km, killing a woman in Madhapur
HYDERABAD: A 22-year-old woman died and her husband was injured after a DCM vehicle hit their scooty and dragged it for nearly 1 km in Madhapur’s Mindspace area late on April 4, 2026.
The victim, identified as Haniya Ayesha, was declared brought dead at hospital. Her husband, Abdul Basit, sustained injuries and is undergoing treatment.
Locals chase vehicle; police launch manhunt
According to police, the DCM vehicle rammed the two-wheeler and continued moving, dragging it for a considerable distance before stopping. Locals chased the vehicle following the incident.
The driver fled the spot, while the cleaner was caught by bystanders and handed over to the police.
Case registered; search underway for absconding driver
Police registered a case and launched a search for the driver, who is on the run. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances leading to the accident.
