Madhapur sub-inspector trapped by ACB for ₹50,000 bribe

HYDERABAD: The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on February 10, 2026, trapped a sub-inspector of Madhapur police station while allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹50,000 for extending official favours, officials said.

The accused officer was identified as Gandro Vinay, sub-inspector of police, Madhapur police station. ACB officials said he was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe from a complainant.

According to the ACB, the officer allegedly demanded the money for providing copies of a notice issued in Crime No. 2202/2025 of Madhapur police station and for not arresting the complainant in the case in future.

The tainted amount of ₹50,000 was recovered from the officer’s possession at his instance, the ACB said, adding that the officer had performed his duties improperly and dishonestly to obtain undue advantage.

The officer is being arrested and will be produced before the additional special judge for SPE and ACB cases at Nampally for judicial remand. Further investigation is under way.

The identity of the complainant has been withheld for security reasons.
