Consumers queue with footwear outside LPG agency in Bhainsa

TELANGANA: Consumers across the erstwhile Adilabad district continued to face inconvenience due to an alleged shortage of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinders, with long queues reported at agencies on March 17.

At an LPG outlet in Bhainsa town, several consumers placed their footwear in queues to secure their turn for booking and collecting cylinders, reflecting the gravity of the situation. Others gathered at the agency from early morning and waited for hours.

Residents said they were forced to spend considerable time both to place orders and to receive booked cylinders. Many who had already registered their demand were also seen waiting at the outlet for delivery.

Consumers expressed displeasure over the prolonged waiting time, stating that the delays were affecting their day-to-day work. They urged the government to take steps to address the scarcity and streamline distribution.

Officials cite panic booking, deny actual shortage in district

District Civil Supplies Officer Rajender said the district had adequate LPG stocks and attributed the rush to panic booking amid fears of future shortages linked to the West Asia conflict.

He said tahsildars and deputy tahsildars had been deployed to address delivery-related issues and ensure timely supply. Officials added that steps were being taken to coordinate with sales officers and agency representatives to prevent any shortage.

Consumers were advised to report delayed deliveries or supply issues through the State-level toll-free helpline 1967.
