Second chance: Hyderabad police reunite lost boy turned criminal with family after 12 years

Hyderabad: In an unusual twist to that tale, Hyderabad police who are on a spree of executing Non bailable warrants to apprehend a group of accused involved in a dacoity case took an unexpected turn when police stumbled upon a heart-wrenching tale of a lost son. A 12-year-old boy, who had run away from his home in Jharkhand after a scolding from his father, had landed in Secunderabad entangled in a life of crime. Twelve years later, the police detected the missing case registered in Maharashtra and facilitated a tearful reunion with his long-lost family.
Going further into details, on receipt of ‘Non Bailable Warrants’ NBW against Arman Alam, Akshay Chandra Shekar Surya Vamshi, Deepak Yadav, Bommakanti Pradeep Goud who are involved in dacoity case registered at Karkhana police station, special teams were formed by Karkhana Police to execute the warrants.
Karkhana police made efforts and on scrutiny about sureties, it was found that one person Baghya Raj (rowdy sheeter of Chilkalguda PS) was a surety in the case. On receiving information about the location from this rowdy sheeter, Karkhana police proceeded to Dwarakapuri Colony, Qutbullapur and apprehended Arman Alam and Akshay Chandra Shekar Surya Vamshi alias Yaba.
Missing case registered in 2012
Investigation revealed that Arman Alam’s family is residing in Maharashtra state and revealed his real identity as the son of Retired Army officer.
According to the police, “When he was at the age of 12 years, he left his family from Ranchi, Jharkhand State and reached Secunderabad by train after his father scolded him for his addiction to smoking. On verification with Maharashtra’s Aheri police station it was confirmed that this information was true and for the last 12 years he never went to his house, from 2012 to till date. With the help of Aheri Police the warrantee was identified by his father Chiman Rao Lachayya Alam as his missing son over video call. His family members then reached Karkhana Police Station to reunite with their son.
S Rashmi Perumal, Deputy Commissioner of Police, North Zone, Hyderabad said, “Meanwhile among the four police identified, Bommakanti Pradeep Goud was jailed in another case and Akshay Chandra Shekar Surya Vamshi @ Yaba has expired due to ill health”.
