Lorry Hits Traffic Constables At Miyapur Metro Station; One Dead, Two Injured

Hyderabad: A tragic accident occurred late Monday night, April 7, 2025, near Miyapur Metro Station, when a speeding lorry ran over three traffic constables on duty. The incident resulted in the death of Home Guard Simhachalam and left two others seriously injured.

The lorry driver, identified as Srinivas from Sadashivapet, is under investigation for the incident due to the excessive speed and apparent negligence. The deceased has been identified as Simhachalam from Aamdalavalasa in the Srikakulam district.

According to the reports, the accident took place around 11 p.m. near pillar number 600, where traffic officers were managing a no-entry zone. Simhachalam, along with Constables Rajavardhan and Vijender, were stationed near a traffic booth when the lorry, which had been unloading rice bags in Bharat Nagar, came from Kukatpally Road at high speed and crashed into the booth, causing it to collapse on the officers.

Simhachalam, who suffered a severe head injury, was rushed to a private hospital in Madinaguda but later succumbed to his injuries. Rajavardhan sustained fractures to his right arm and shoulder, while Vijender received minor injuries. The two injured officers are currently undergoing treatment.

A case has been filed, and an investigation is underway.
