Hyderabad police foil land grabbing attempt on Retired Colonel’s property
Secunderabad: Karkhana police busted a land grabbers gang who tried to grab the land of Retired Army colonel on Wednesday. A gang of fraudsters had meticulously planned to usurp the retired colonel’s property by creating forged documents. The police have arrested the accused.
The arrested accused were identified as Ubaid Bin Mohammed, Shaik Rauf Pasha, Rathakanth Sainath, Mohd. Abid, Shaik Amid and Banoth Bheem Singh.
Explaining the elaborate scheme of the gang S Rashmi Perumal, Deputy Commissioner of Police(DCP), North Zone, Hyderabad said,” The gang targeted the retired Colonel Voleti Krishna Rao as he was a senior citizen and who was frequently traveling to Chennai. In order to create a forged document, they engaged 64-year-old Sainath who is similar to the age of the complainant Rao and forged his Aadhar Identity. Subsequently the accused Ubaid Bin Mohammed and Shaik Rauf Pasha, further engaged Mohd. Abid pretending to be a buyer and Shaik Amid and Banoth Bheem Singh as witnesses for the execution of Deed”.
Accordingly, Ubaid Bin Mohammed and Shaik Rauf Pasha got registered on the land of the complainant on the name of Mohd. Abid in May 2024 by Sainath pretending to be the owner of the land with an intention to Grab the Land from the original owner Col. Voleti Krishna Rao (Rtd).
Based on the complaint from Col. Voleti Krishna Rao (Retd)(85 years)about his land measuring 450 Sq. yards in Gunrock Enclave Cooperative Housing Society being sold through fabricated documents, Karkhana police registered a case and started investigation. Meanwhile the illegal sale document was cancelled after due intimation to Sub- Registrar giving much relief to the complainant.
Explaining how the accused exploited the loopholes in the system, S Rashmi Perumal, said, “At that time there was no mandatory procedure of taking photographs/ biometric authentication for registration. Taking advantage of this, the accused who are real estate brokers conspired together to grab lands with forged documents of such older registered lands”.
DCP, North Zone, S Rashmi Perumaladvised the citizens of North zone to be cautious of such fraudsters and land grabbers. Open plots must be fenced with a boundary wall and frequent visits to the property must be taken up along with sufficient identification of the owner in the form of name boards to be set up. Any information of such land grabbing activities must be intimated to local police at the earliest.
