Lallaguda police handle dispute over missing pet cat

SECUNDERABAD: A dispute over a missing pet cat kept police at the Lallaguda Police Station occupied for hours on Wednesday, April 9.
Woman files complaint after pet cat goes missing
A woman from Addagutta approached the police alleging that a man had taken away her pet cat. She demanded that the animal be traced and returned.
According to police, the accused sells plants while travelling on a motorcycle. He allegedly attempted to take the cat from outside the woman’s house in Lallaguda.
Accused says cat bit him and escaped
Soon after the cat went missing, the owner checked CCTV footage and identified the man using the motorcycle number. She then lodged a complaint.
Police registered a case and traced the accused to Chintal. During questioning, he told officers that the cat bit his hand when he tried to catch it and escaped.
Police counsel both sides, issue warning
The woman insisted that her pet be returned and argued with the accused. The man maintained that he could not produce the animal as it had run away.
With no resolution in sight, the inspector counselled both parties for nearly 30 minutes. The accused later apologised to the woman at the station.
Police issued a warning to the man and let him go. Meanwhile, other complainants waiting outside expressed frustration over the prolonged dispute.
