Hyderabad To Bengaluru Bound Bus Catches Fire; 25 Feared Dead

HYDERABAD: A private bus travelling from Hyderabad to Bengaluru was gutted in a massive fire near Chinna Tekur on the outskirts of Kurnool early Friday. Preliminary reports said at least 19 passengers were feared dead and 23 others managed to escape with injuries.

Kaveri Travels bus bursts into flames near Chinna Tekur in early hours

The incident occurred around 4am when the Kaveri Travels bus rammed into a two-wheeler near Ulindakonda. Police said the bike got trapped under the vehicle, hitting its fuel tank, which immediately caught fire. The flames spread rapidly through the bus, engulfing it within minutes.

Most passengers, asleep at the time, woke up to screams and smoke. Some broke windows and escaped, while many were trapped inside. Police and fire personnel reached the spot soon after receiving a distress call and began rescue operations. The injured were shifted to Kurnool Government General Hospital.

The bus was completely charred by the time the flames were brought under control. Officials said the majority of passengers were residents of Hyderabad.

Haim Reddy, a traveller from Puttaparthi, stopped her vehicle upon noticing the blaze and alerted the police. Another local, Naveen from Hindupur, used his car to rush six injured passengers to hospital.

Police have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire.

Revanth Reddy expresses shock over Kurnool bus mishap

Chief minister Revanth Reddy expressed deep shock over the bus accident in Kurnool district. He conveyed heartfelt condolences to the families of those who died in the accident.

The chief minister directed Telangana officials to coordinate with their Andhra Pradesh counterparts and take all necessary relief and assistance measures.

CM directs immediate aid for injured and victims’ families

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu expressed deep sorrow over the deaths in a bus fire incident on Friday. Officials brought the accident to his notice while he was on an official visit to Dubai.

The Chief Minister spoke to the Chief Secretary and other senior officials to gather details of the mishap. He instructed the top administrative machinery to visit the accident site immediately and take part in the rescue and relief operations.

Naidu directed officials to provide all necessary assistance to the injured and the families of the deceased. He also advised them to ensure that preventive measures are taken to avoid a rise in the death toll.

YS Jagan expresses shock over Kurnool bus fire tragedy, urges aid for victims

YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Friday expressed deep shock and grief over the bus fire accident near Chinnatekur on the outskirts of Kurnool in which several passengers were burnt alive.

In a statement, Jagan described the incident involving a private travels bus from Hyderabad to Bengaluru as “extremely distressing” and said it had deeply shaken him.

“The loss of lives in this horrific accident is tragic beyond words. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families,” he said.

Jagan urged the government to extend generous financial assistance and comprehensive support to the families of the deceased. He also appealed to the authorities to ensure the best possible medical care for the injured passengers undergoing treatment in hospitals.
