HYDERABAD: Forest department officials have imposed a ₹20 lakh fine on Gulf Oil Corporation Limited at Kukatpally for cutting down trees without permission.
Locals informed officials last week that trees were being felled on the company premises. An inquiry confirmed that the trees were cut without required permissions. Following this, the company management was fined ₹20 lakh, which representatives paid on Monday.
Medchal district divisional forest officer (DFO) Sudhakar Reddy said the department would take strict action against anyone felling trees without approval. “Apart from fines, cases will also be registered,” he warned.
