KTR targets Revanth over jobs, engineers
HYDERABAD: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K T Rama Rao accused the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of betraying Telangana’s youth and questioned the Congress government over its job calendar and employment promises.
Calling the government’s job calendar a “jobless calendar”, Rama Rao said even the calendar presented in the legislature had not been implemented. He accused Congress of misleading people with a series of declarations before the elections and said unemployed youth in the state were in despair.

“What happened to the job calendar released by Congress?” Rama Rao asked. Referring to a youth who allegedly wrote a letter and attempted suicide in the deputy chief minister’s constituency, he said the youth had questioned what had happened to the Congress promise.
“When youngsters here are attempting suicide, where is Rahul Gandhi?” he asked.
Rama Rao also attacked chief minister A Revanth Reddy over his remarks referring to engineers as “criminal waste”. He said the Congress government had not crossed even 10,000 jobs in two years.
“This suicide note is a chargesheet against your incompetent administration. I felt distressed after reading the youngster’s suicide note,” he said.
Appealing to unemployed youth not to take extreme steps, Rama Rao said: “Please do not end your lives. Once our government returns, we will fill jobs. Please do not lose your lives.”
He accused Rahul Gandhi of posing as a supporter of student agitations while remaining silent over Revanth Reddy’s remarks about engineers.
“Your chief minister called engineers ‘criminal waste’. Rahul does not utter a word about Revanth’s remarks. Rahul and Revanth do not have the courage to come before students and speak to them,” he said.
Rama Rao said Gandhi rushed to other states when students faced police lathicharges but did not do so when such incidents occurred in Congress-ruled states.
He said engineers were hurt by the chief minister’s remarks. “Are our engineers working abroad ‘criminal waste’?” he asked.
Rama Rao turned the phrase against the Congress leadership, saying the declarations jointly announced by Rahul Gandhi and Revanth Reddy were “criminal waste”.
“Allowing hundreds of TMC ft of water to flow into the sea is criminal waste. Spending ₹ 200 crore on beauty contests is criminal waste. Burning ₹ 100 crore on a football event with Messi is criminal waste,” he said.
Using a derogatory expression against the chief minister, Rama Rao said making Revanth Reddy the chief minister of Telangana itself was “criminal waste”.
He also questioned Revanth Reddy’s educational credentials and alleged that he might have passed examinations by copying.
“Revanth, can you fill your own election form? Have you written even one competitive examination in your life? Have you ever attended an interview?” he asked.
Rama Rao said he and others had studied hard and attended reputed universities. Referring to Revanth Reddy’s earlier occupation, he said: “You made a living whitewashing walls. If you have such an attitude, how much self-respect should engineers have?”

“Who built the flyovers in Hyderabad? Were they not engineers? Who is carrying out reverse pumping from Yellampalli? Are they not engineers? Who built the Command Control Centre where you sit? Were they not engineers?” he asked.
“Engineers know how to build. They also know how to build a grave for your party,” Rama Rao said.
He said he was questioning Revanth Reddy and Rahul Gandhi on behalf of unemployed youth. “When will you provide the two lakh jobs? Where are Rahul and Revanth?” he asked, using stronger language in the original remarks.
Rama Rao demanded that the assembly session be held for at least 15 days and said the BRS would question the government in the House on behalf of unemployed youth.
“My appeal to the unemployed is not to lose confidence. Fulfil the promises you made to students and unemployed youth. First do the work that is in your hands,” he told the government.
Turning to Backward Classes (BC) reservations, Rama Rao accused Revanth Reddy of trying to blame Prime Minister Narendra Modi for blocking the reservations.
“The resolution you passed is a piece of waste paper,” he said.
Rama Rao also accused Revanth Reddy of making comments that undermined the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act.
“The Right to Education Act was brought in during Sonia Gandhi’s time. Will you yourselves undermine the law you brought?” he asked.
He questioned whether the deaths of 150 students in gurukuls could be called a Congress “success” and also referred to alleged remarks asking people to consume endrin and die.
Rama Rao alleged that technology jobs in Telangana had declined after Congress came to power and said 7,000 IT jobs had been lost. “The government must explain why they were lost,” he said.
He termed the performance of Revanth Reddy and the education department a failure and accused the chief minister of making “meaningless statements” to cover up the government’s shortcomings.
KTR targets government over Godavari water, Metro
Rama Rao also accused the government of failing to utilise Godavari water during July.
“Water continued to flow in the Godavari throughout July, but the government did not pay attention. This is a wasteful and criminal government that failed to lift the water and left farmers without water,” he said.
He said irrigation minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy travelled by helicopter and posed for photographs after inflows reached four TMC ft.
“How is water coming from Yellampalli to Mid Manair? Is it not through the Gayatri pump house and Nandimedaram pump house? Does Uttam Kumar Reddy understand Kaleshwaram?” he asked.
Rama Rao said farmers had realised that Congress had no intention of supplying them water.
He said he prayed at the Ujjaini Mahankali temple for good rainfall.
Turning to the Hyderabad Metro, Rama Rao alleged that there was a “scam behind every scheme” of the Revanth Reddy government.
“Why did he take over the Metro?” he asked, alleging that Revanth Reddy and his brothers had devised a plan involving ₹ 200 crore.
Rama Rao said Congress and BJP had opposed the Metro during the BRS government’s tenure and accused them of falsely claiming there would be no traffic between Lakdikapul and Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL).
He also accused the Congress government of harassing BRS leaders.
