KTR addressing media on Revanth Reddy remarks in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: Bharat Rashtra Samithi working president K T Rama Rao on Sunday strongly criticised Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for allegedly calling for the destruction of BRS flagposts, accusing him of inciting unlawful acts despite holding a constitutional post.

‘Shameful for a Chief Minister to incite lawlessness’

Rama Rao questioned whether Revanth Reddy was acting as a chief minister or a gang leader, saying it was shameful for someone entrusted with maintaining law and order to encourage antisocial activities and crimes. He said the remarks were particularly serious as Revanth Reddy also holds the home portfolio.

Referring to Telangana’s law and order record over the past decade, Rama Rao said the state had been seen as a national model, but alleged that those now in power were opening the doors to anarchy. He described this as an “unfortunate phase” for the state.

‘BRS support rattled the Chief Minister’

Rama Rao said the chief minister appeared unsettled after witnessing the continued public support for the BRS, claiming this had led to such remarks. He alleged that within two years of what he called a “failed administration”, Revanth Reddy had lost public confidence, and said the day’s public meeting had exposed his “political desperation”.

He demanded immediate action from the police department and the director general of police over what he termed inflammatory and violence-inciting statements, noting that arrests were routinely made even for minor social media posts.

Allegations of political conspiracy

The BRS leader alleged that despite being a Congress chief minister, Revanth Reddy was echoing the agenda of the Telugu Desam Party, claiming that the wider conspiracy behind this had now become clear to Telangana society. He further accused the chief minister of acting on the directions of his former political mentor and of undermining Telangana’s water rights over the past two years.

Rama Rao said the Congress was a “sinking ship” and alleged that Revanth Reddy was preparing to abandon it at an opportune moment. He also accused the chief minister of making covert arrangements with the Bharatiya Janata Party while attempting to revive the TDP in Telangana, a move he said had already been rejected by the people.

Warning that the people of Telangana would not tolerate what he described as covert politics that harmed the state’s interests from water to funds and appointments Rama Rao said the chief minister would have to pay a heavy political price.
