KTR Criticizes Telangana's Davos Investment Announcements

Hyderabad: K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), criticized Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s investment announcements made at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos. Telangana secured investment commitments totaling ₹15,000 crore, with three key Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) signed by the state’s Telangana Rising team.

The MoUs were signed with Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited (MEIL), the Battery Energy Storage System Project (BESSP), and a luxury wellness resort project. PV Krishna Reddy, Managing Director of MEIL, signed the agreements at the Telangana Pavilion, with Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu present.

In addition to these, Skyroot Aerospace, a Hyderabad-based space technology company, signed an MoU to set up a private rocket manufacturing and testing unit in Telangana, with an investment of ₹500 crore.

KTR took to X (formerly Twitter) to criticize the announcements, questioning the approach of making Hyderabad-based companies travel thousands of miles to Davos to announce investments that could have been made locally. He wrote, “What is ‘innovative thinking’? Making Hyderabad-based companies travel all the way to Davos, Switzerland, and announce them as investments! Elect a clown, expect a circus.”

He further added, “MoUs That Could Have Been Signed Over Chai in Hyderabad, Now Need Swiss Hot Chocolate!” along with an image.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expressed pride in the achievements of Telangana-based companies in technology and space, emphasizing the growing role of the state as an innovation hub. Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu highlighted the government’s vision for the space sector and the development of Hyderabad as a center for private space activities.

On the second day of the WEF summit, the Telangana Rising delegation will meet industrialists from global companies, including Wipro, Sun Petrochemicals, JSW Group, Lonza Group, Mitra Energy, Tillman Global Holdings, and Blackstone. These talks are expected to result in further investment commitments.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will also participate in a seminar organized by the World Economic Forum, titled “Building Regenerative and Circular Places.”
