KTR slams ‘Congress Thalli’ statue at Telangana Secretariat
Hyderabad: The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President K T Rama Rao(KTR) has launched a scathing attack on the new statue at the Telangana Secretariat, calling it “Congress Thalli.” KTR alleged the statue undermines Telangana’s cultural and historical identity and accused the Congress government of distorting the Telangana Thalli legacy for political gains.
Speaking on the issue, BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) pointed out the addition of the Congress Party’s hand symbol, which he described as an attempt to align Telangana’s identity with the party’s agenda. “No one in the world changes their mother’s representation, but here in Telangana, the Congress government is attempting to distort the essence of Telangana Thalli,” KTR remarked during a public meeting in Medchal where he unveiled the Telangana Thalli statue.
KTR described the statue as a “symbol of Congress deception.” He accused the government of using it to mislead the public while diluting Telangana’s cultural essence. He warned that if the BRS returns to power, the statue will be removed and sent to Gandhi Bhavan. “Telangana Thalli represents the collective spirit of Telangana society, not a single party or individual,” KTR emphasized, adding that the Congress government was damaging cultural symbols like Bathukamma and tarnishing the state’s identity.
BRS calls for protests
The BRS has announced peaceful demonstrations across Telangana to oppose the government’s actions. As part of Abhishekam Rituals, the party will conduct milk and Panchamrita Abhishekam at all existing Telangana Thalli statues to reaffirm their identity. Further, party leaders and workers are urged to change their social media profile pictures to Telangana Thalli images.
BRS appealed to the people of Telangana to unite in defense of their cultural identity. The party emphasized that the issue is not just political but connected to the pride and history of Telangana. KTR encouraged citizens to participate in the protests and embrace Telangana Thalli as a symbol of unity and inspiration.The BRS vowed to continue its fight against attempts to dilute Telangana’s legacy.
