KTR says BRS emerges key rival after Jubilee Hills bypoll

HYDERABAD: BRS working president K T Rama Rao on Thursday said the Jubilee Hills bypoll had given his party fresh momentum and reaffirmed that it remains the principal challenger to the ruling Congress in Telangana.
Bypoll shows BRS is main opposition, says KTR
He said that although BRS lost the last assembly election, it continued to raise public issues. “The Jubilee Hills bypoll shows that BRS is the alternative to Congress in Telangana,” he told reporters.
‘Election process itself should be debated’
KTR said discussions must go beyond victories and defeats to examine the state of democracy. He added that people, too, should debate how the election was conducted.
He criticised the Election Commission, saying BRS had raised several concerns before polling, but they were ignored. According to him, irregularities occurred during voting and bogus ballots were cast, but “no one heard our plea”.
‘Not disappointed by defeat’
KTR said the party was not discouraged by the outcome and would continue to expose what he described as the government’s anti-people decisions.
