KTR urges governor to intervene in Telangana row

Ktr

Telangana : Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao on Wednesday said the party had urged the governor to intervene in what it described as the Congress government’s “high-handedness” in Telangana.

Speaking to the media after meeting the governor, KTR thanked him for giving the BRS delegation time and enquired about his health as he had recently been unwell.

KTR said the delegation met the governor on the instructions of BRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao and briefed him on what he described as the Congress government’s failure to fulfil its promises and its “complete failure” in governance during its 1,000 days in office.

He said the delegation explained the difficulties being faced by people, including farmers, unemployed students and youth.

KTR said they also brought to the governor’s notice what they described as Rahul Gandhi’s failure to fulfil promises made to unemployed students and youth in Telangana. The delegation also explained the protests by polytechnic students and their demands.

BRS alleges police blocked legislators from entering Assembly

KTR said the delegation explained the police action against BRS legislators on the first day of the recent Assembly session.

He said the BRS had planned to protest through T-shirts, similar to the manner in which Rahul Gandhi had protested in Parliament.

“But while we were exercising our rights, we, as legislators, were stopped on the road itself and prevented from entering the Assembly,” KTR said, according to the statement.

He said the delegation submitted photographs and other evidence regarding the alleged attack on BRS legislators, particularly women legislators.

KTR alleged that women legislator V Sunitha Laxma Reddy’s saree was pulled during the confrontation, describing it as the beginning of a “Dushasana episode”. He also alleged that the Congress had attacked BRS leaders and was subsequently trying to blame the victims.

He said the governor was also informed that complaints had been lodged against police personnel who allegedly went to attack BRS leaders but that no action had been taken.

KTR said the delegation also brought to the governor’s notice what it described as the Congress “stooping to the level of wishing for KCR’s death”.

He alleged that Congress MLAs had gone to KCR’s residence “like goons” to attack it.

KTR says government has no respect for Constitution, courts

KTR said the delegation also explained that the government had prevented BRS members from entering the Legislative Council and Assembly despite directions from the High Court.

“This government has no respect for the Constitution or the courts,” he said, adding that this was why the BRS legislators had been suspended.

KTR alleged that words never spoken by BRS members were being attributed to them and that an incident of insult that had not occurred was being portrayed as having happened in the name of the Dalit Speaker.

“We have immense respect for the Speaker. But we explained to the governor that it is the Congress party that is trying to insult him by repeatedly referring to him as a Dalit Speaker,” KTR said.

He said the BRS had therefore described the Assembly as a “Kaurava Sabha” and a “Dushasana Sabha”.

KTR also alleged that the government had attempted to attack KCR at his residence and said the chief minister himself was behind the entire episode.

He said the delegation provided the governor details of what he described as the “sinister act” of beating death drums outside the residence of a leader like KCR and wishing for his death.

Governor assures BRS of inquiry, KTR says

KTR said the governor had assured the delegation that an inquiry would be conducted into matters relating to the functioning of the Assembly as well as every incident outside the House and every issue raised by the BRS.

“Based on the assurance given by the governor, we believe he will intervene in the atrocities that are taking place,” KTR said.

He said the BRS told the governor that its members were attacked merely for seeking justice on behalf of the people of Telangana and demanding implementation of promises.

KTR said the party had already complained about all AI-generated photographs and videos released by the government in connection with the issue.

“We will take legal action against those who use fake images and false complaints,” he said.

KTR added that if justice was not delivered in Telangana, the BRS would approach the National Commission for Women at the national level and lodge a complaint.
