KTR invites Former Minister Jeevan Reddy to join BRS

HYDERABAD: BRS Working President K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) visited senior Congress leader and former Minister Jeevan Reddy at his Jagtial residence on Thursday and formally invited him to join the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).
KTR, accompanied by party leaders and local representatives, extended the invitation on behalf of BRS chief K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) and later told the media that Jeevan Reddy responded positively. Further, KTR revealed, “Jeevan Reddy said, ‘I share a personal bond with KCR. I am delighted that all of you have come here to invite me. I will meet KCR shortly and announce my decision within two or three days.’”
Shifting the focus to state leadership, KTR said that Telangana needs KCR to return as Chief Minister for the well-being of farmers and the poor. He emphasized that experienced leadership is necessary for the state’s development, so BRS seeks Jeevan Reddy’s support.
Reflecting on the relationship between the leaders, KTR highlighted the four decades of mutual respect between KCR and Jeevan Reddy. He commended Jeevan Reddy’s commitment to farmers, particularly his efforts regarding the Nizam Sugars issue. KTR noted that KCR had previously encouraged Jeevan Reddy to study the Maharashtra model for reviving the sugar factory under a cooperative framework and had offered him the chairmanship.
Turning to criticism of the current administration, KTR criticized the Congress government led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and alleged governance failures and diversionary tactics. He alleged that the government failed to implement the Rythu Bandhu scheme on three occasions, caused Rs 27,000 crore in arrears to farmers, and misled the public on farm loan waivers. “Deep dissatisfaction prevails among the farming community,” he said.
KTR alleged that the government promised 200,000 jobs to youth but has not delivered any. “Despair and anger mount among the unemployed,” he added. He further claimed that the Congress government has not fully implemented any of its Six Guarantees and described the election promises as a “complete deception.”
Continuing his remarks on party dynamics, KTR stated that dissatisfaction is increasing within the Congress party, and members are seeking the return of the BRS government. He accused Revanth Reddy of humiliating senior leaders and acting arrogantly. He further said, “Revanth Reddy should remember that power and political positions are not permanent,” and expressed confidence that the BRS would return to power with the public’s blessings.
Former Minister Jeevan Reddy said, “I extend my heartfelt gratitude to KTR for visiting my home at the behest of KCR and inviting me to join the party. Although resigning from the Congress party was an emotional experience, I am happy to join the BRS today.”
He added, “Over the past 20 months, I have endured numerous humiliations with patience. I have witnessed many governments, but the current government moves in a regressive direction. I made this decision in accordance with public opinion. I am delighted to have the opportunity to work under the leadership of KCR.”
