Ktr Addressing Media While Responding To Pawan Kalyan's Remarks On Regionalism And Telangana Politics

HYDERABAD: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K. T. Rama Rao on Wednesday hit back at Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan for his remarks that regionalism is more dangerous than terrorism. He asserted that Telangana “certainly belongs to its sons of the soil.”

KTR cites Potti Sriramulu’s sacrifice

Responding to Pawan Kalyan’s comments, KTR asked whether people should also describe the movement for a separate Andhra State from the erstwhile Madras State as regionalism.

He pointed out that Potti Sriramulu sacrificed his life after a 58-day fast to achieve the formation of Andhra State.

Questions on investments and economic priorities

KTR alleged that authorities were diverting investments meant for Telangana to other regions while criticising the state in the name of regionalism.

“Is economic regionalism in the name of nationalism acceptable?” he asked, targeting the BJP-led Central government.

No interference in Telangana politics, says BRS leader

KTR said Telangana did not need lessons on patriotism or struggles from Pawan Kalyan.

“We admire him as an actor and welcome him as a brother. But we will not accept interference in Telangana politics,” he said.

Referring to the Telangana statehood movement, KTR added: “After all the sacrifices made for a separate Telangana, why should we accept domination from others again?”
