KTR files defamation case against Minister Konda Surekha in Nampally Court
Hyderabad: K. Taraka Rama Rao (KTR), the working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), has filed a defamation petition against Konda Surekha, the Minister for Forest and Environment and Member of the Telangana Legislative Assembly from Warangal East, in the Nampally Court on October 10, 2024. This legal action follows controversial comments made by Surekha during a recent media briefing.
KTR’s legal notice asserts that Surekha made baseless accusations. The notice also highlighted her references. KTR further said that such baseless remarks could mislead the public, given Surekha’s position as a minister.
Dated October 2, 2024, the notice described Surekha’s actions as a “vitriolic campaign” aimed at damaging KTR’s reputation, leading to significant embarrassment. KTR demanded that Konda Surekha retract her statements, issue an unconditional public apology, and cease any further defamatory actions. He warned that failure to comply within 24 hours would result in civil and criminal legal actions against her.
Taking to social media platform ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), KTR expressed his outrage, “Served legal notices to the Minister; disgusting & nauseating politics by Congress. I request @RahulGandhi to send your Minister and CM to a mental health specialist or a rehabilitation therapist.”
Meanwhile, actor Akkineni Nagarjuna has also filed a defamation case against Surekha, prompting the Nampally Special Magistrate Court to issue notices to her. The court has scheduled the next hearing on this matter for October 23, in addition to addressing a separate criminal petition filed by Nagarjuna.
