Assembly session: KTR, BRS legislators detained over “Adani-Revanth Bhai Bhai” t-shirt
Hyderabad: Tension erupted at the Telangana Assembly on Monday morning as the BRS working president and other legislators were arrested for staging a protest against the Congress government wearing T-shirts featuring photos of Revanth Reddy and Adani (Gautam Adani, Chairperson of Adani Group) together with the slogan “Adani-Revanth Bhai Bhai.”
The security personnel objected to the wearing of T-shirts with a political message and stopped the BRS leaders from holding a demonstration at the Assembly entrance. This led to a heated argument between the opposition leaders and the security personnel.
KTR, Harish Rao and other BRS leaders raised slogans “Adani-Revanth Bhai Bhai,” “Telangana Thalli muddura, Congress Thalli vaddura”, and “Nahi chalega,Tanashahi nahi chalega’ and protested when the security personnel prevented them from entering the Assembly and Council premises.
Following the heated exchanges, the police bundled the BRS leaders, including KTR, Council Opposition leader S Madhusudhana Chari, T Harish Rao, K Kavitha and others into the waiting vans and they were taken to the nearest police station.
KTR has been questioning the Congress’ stance over the Adani Group’s investments in Telangana. He criticized the grand old party for its alleged double standards at the Centre and the State level. “If Adani is wrong for India, why and how is he right for Telangana?” asked the BRS working president KTR.
