KTR and BRS MLAs Protest Revanth

Hyderabad: K. T. Rama Rao, the working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), along with other BRS MLAs, was taken into preventive custody by the police following a protest inside the Assembly on Thursday. The protest was in response to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s comments about BRS women legislators, which the party deemed inappropriate.

The BRS leaders had staged a protest in front of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s chamber to voice their dissatisfaction with remarks made by CM Revanth Reddy and Deputy CM concerning BRS women MLAs. KTR questioned the freedom of MLAs to protest within the framework of public governance and demanded an immediate apology from Revanth Reddy for his alleged disrespectful comments.

The controversy began when Chief Minister Revanth Reddy made comments about BRS MLAs who had previously defected from Congress. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy commented that these legislators, once seated in Congress, were now in the BRS row and suggested that if BRS leaders listened to their demands, they might end up at Jubilee Hills Bus Station.

The remarks provoked a strong reaction from BRS MLAs, leading to a walkout yesterday. Sabita Indra Reddy, a prominent BRS MLA, was emotional and demanded an unconditional apology from Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. “I blessed Revanth Reddy, believing he would become a great Chief Minister. But now he is targeting me and speaking ill of me,” she said.

KTR, the working president of the BRS, took to ‘X,’ formerly known as Twitter and posted: “The highly shameful and disgraceful behavior of the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister in the state assembly demands their unconditional apology to both @BrsSabithaIndra and @sunitavakiti. Both of them are senior legislators and former ministers known for their dignified behavior and graceful conduct. These kinds of comments from Congress only show their contempt and disrespect towards all women, not just our leaders.”
