HYDERABAD: Bharat Rashtra Samithi working president K T Rama Rao on Tuesday alleged large-scale corruption involving the Congress government and Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, claiming his party had exposed multiple scams running into lakhs of crores.

Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan, Rama Rao said the BRS had stalled the proposed Musi project, which he alleged would have led to a ₹1.5 lakh crore “loot”. He said the party also exposed the alleged acquisition of tribal lands at Lagacharla for a company linked to the Chief Minister’s family, and what he termed a ₹10 lakh crore land scam under the guise of Hyderabad industrial lands.

Claims of benami links and insolvency violations

Rama Rao alleged that KLSR Infra was a benami company of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. He said the Supreme Court on January 23 issued notices to the Centre and the state in connection with the KLSR Infra case.

He questioned how a company that entered insolvency proceedings in July 2023 was awarded projects worth about ₹6,000 crore, allegedly in violation of norms and without the consent of the insolvency resolution professional. He claimed evidence of fund diversion to firms linked to the Chief Minister’s family, including Sai Mourya Estates and Bhoopal Infra.

Rama Rao also alleged that a Toyota Land Cruiser used by the Chief Minister, bearing registration number TS 07 FF 0009, was registered in the name of KLSR Infra, and questioned why a benami company would purchase a vehicle worth about ₹2.5 crore.

Projects cited across districts

Listing contracts allegedly awarded to KLSR Infra, Rama Rao cited ₹116 crore for R&B road works in Medak district, ₹135 crore for the Shadnagar–Pargi road, ₹1,910 crore for a lift irrigation scheme at Mothe in Suryapet district, and ₹320 crore for the Ganapavaram Rajiv Gandhi Lift Irrigation Scheme at Kodad.

He also alleged that KLSR Infra was awarded a ₹145 crore veterinary college project in Kodangal, the Chief Minister’s constituency, and ₹165 crore worth of works under Mission Bhagiratha. He said the company’s own website claimed it had secured AMRUT, Jal Jeevan Mission and Young India Schools projects worth ₹6,000 crore.

Allegations of pressure on judiciary

Rama Rao alleged attempts were made to influence judicial proceedings in the KLSR case, claiming pressure through messages and calls forced Justice Sharath Kumar to recuse himself from the hearing. He termed such actions a misuse of the judicial system.

Demand for central probes

Stating that the Supreme Court had questioned the state on awarding projects to an insolvent firm, Rama Rao said the recent spate of summons issued to BRS leaders was aimed at diverting public attention.

He demanded an immediate, independent probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation, the Enforcement Directorate or the Serious Fraud Investigation Office, as suggested by the Supreme Court. He said all contracts awarded to KLSR Infra should be cancelled, ongoing works stopped, and the firm blacklisted until the court-ordered inquiry is completed.

“This is not a personal issue involving the Chief Minister. It concerns ₹6,000 crore of public money,” Rama Rao said, demanding swift action and accountability.
