KTR aides booked for allegedly abusing inspector

HYDERABAD: Saifabad police have registered a case against K.T. Rama Rao’s (KTR) public relations officer Mahesh and personal assistant Mahender for allegedly abusing and threatening a reserve inspector on duty at the Assembly on September 7.
The two were booked on allegations of abusing Jangaiah, threatening him and obstructing a government official from discharging his duties.
According to the complaint, Jangaiah was on duty at Gate No. 3 of the Assembly when KTR and other Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLAs and MLCs, wearing black shirts with slogans printed on them, were stopped from entering the premises on the orders of senior police officials.
Mahesh, who had already entered the Assembly premises using a pass, returned to the gate and got into an argument with police personnel. While recording videos, he allegedly shouted at the police, asking, “Why have you deployed women police here? Are there no men? What is this drama?”
Jangaiah then intervened and asked Mahesh to stop and leave the spot. Mahesh allegedly responded, “Who do you think I am? I am KTR’s PRO. No matter how big a police officer you are, you cannot stop me. I have a pass. Move aside.”
When Jangaiah again asked him to leave, Mahesh allegedly moved towards the inspector and said, “What? Will you hit me?” Other police officers then took him aside.
Later, Jangaiah came across videos of the incident circulating on social media. He told police that the videos showed Mahesh allegedly abusing him.
In his complaint, Jangaiah said the noise at the spot had prevented him from hearing everything clearly at the time. He said the remarks attributed to Mahesh and Mahender caused him distress and left his family members worried.
Jangaiah also reproduced the conversation from the videos in his complaint and alleged that both Mahesh and Mahender abused him. He said the videos of the incident were subsequently circulated on social media.
Based on Jangaiah’s complaint, Saifabad police registered a case against Mahesh and Mahender under Sections 132, 352 and 351(2) read with Section 5 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
