Governor clears ACB inquiry against KTR

TELANGANA: The Governor on Thursday approved the Anti-Corruption Bureau’s request to question K T Rama Rao in the Formula E car race case.
ACB has already registered a case over alleged irregularities in the event. Officials have questioned KTR multiple times as part of the inquiry. The Congress government had ordered the probe into allegations that ₹54 crore changed hands during the race arrangements.
Officials also questioned Arvind Kumar, who was then principal secretary of municipal administration, and B S N Reddy, who was with the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority.
The ACB sought permission from the Governor as KTR is an elected representative. With approval now granted, officials are likely to question him again before filing a charge sheet. The agency is expected to initiate prosecution soon.
Chief minister Revanth Reddy had earlier said that the probe was held up because the Governor’s approval was pending. With the approval now in place, the ACB is preparing to file the charge sheet and move the case to court.
