KRINSS Villas Flooding Issue

Hyderabad: Residents of KRINSS Villas, a prominent gated community in Nankramguda, Hyderabad, are dealing with severe flooding on the main road leading to their neighborhood. The road transforms into a river even after minor rainfall, raising concerns about the area’s infrastructure and local governance.

The problem has gained attention on social media, with the Apna Manikonda admin expressing their dissatisfaction on ‘X’ (previously known as Twitter) regarding the inaction of the Telangana government and the Manikonda Municipal Corporation. The admin urged prompt intervention and enhancements in Ward 11, which includes Nankramguda.

Speaking with the Hyderabad Mail, Shaik Aarif, General Secretary of the Citizens Council and admin of Apna Manikonda, described the situation. “Residents of KRINSS Villas, which is home to several prominent MLAs and MPs, are facing severe flooding. Even minor rainfall turns the road into a river, raising serious concerns about the area’s infrastructure and the effectiveness of local authorities,” Aarif explained.

The road in Ward 11 of the Manikonda Municipality is important for KRINSS Villas residents and many people who use it every day. However, the road often floods, indicating that the local infrastructure is not being maintained well.

Municipal authorities have reportedly ignored repeated requests for drainage improvements and road repairs. The Apna Manikonda admin questioned the ability of local leaders to address the needs of their constituents, stating, “If roads in an area with MLAs and MPs are in such a state, one can only imagine the condition faced by ordinary citizens.”

Aarif also pointed out a broader issue affecting Hyderabad, saying, “The situation in Nankramguda reflects a larger problem of rapid urbanisation outpacing infrastructure development. Despite promises to transform Hyderabad into a world-class city, the reality in areas like Nankramguda tells a different story.”

The residents are urging the municipal authorities to take immediate action in response to the issues they are facing. Specifically, they are concerned about the planning and maintenance of stormwater drainage, pointing out that a slight depression in the road is contributing to increased waterlogging. Additionally, they have observed that the recent construction of high-rise buildings has had a detrimental impact on the road’s condition.

One user on X commented, “The poor stormwater drain planning is to blame. There’s a minor dip causing waterlogging, and the construction of multiple high-rises on this road has damaged it even before the monsoon season. It’s notable that BJP MP Raghunandan Rao and BRS MLA Harish Rao are residents here.”
