KPHB murder case: 3 get life term after 16 years
HYDERABAD: Three people were sentenced to life imprisonment by the 3rd Additional District and Sessions Court in Kukatpally in connection with a murder in KPHB 16 years ago.
Judge M. Venkateswara Rao handed down the sentence. KPHB station house officer Vijay Kumar and sub-inspector Shashidhar said the case related to the murder of Mohan Naidu of KPHB Phase IV.
Victim killed after dispute over ₹20,000
Mohan Naidu, Bonala Nagachari of Dommata in Siddipet district, Engannagari Venkatachari of Kamareddy district and Praveen Mondal of West Bengal were friends.
Naidu had taken ₹20,000 from Nagachari, promising to get him a house under the Rajiv Gruha Kalpa housing scheme. However, he failed to arrange the house and did not return the money. Police said he also threatened Nagachari.
On the night of December 14, 2010, Nagachari, Venkatachari and Mondal took Naidu to KPHB Phase IV to drink alcohol. During the gathering, an argument broke out.
Police said Mondal and Venkatachari held Naidu while Nagachari shot him in the head with a pistol.
Body buried in forest area in Medak
After the murder, the trio allegedly took gold ornaments from Naidu’s body. They transported the body in the boot of a car and buried it in a forest area on the outskirts of Valluru in Medak district.
Naidu’s brother lodged a complaint with police after he went missing.
Inspectors Nandyala Narsimha Reddy, Baswareddy and Gangaram, along with sub-inspector Lingaiah, continued the investigation.
The murder came to light after the accused were caught by police while travelling in a car with a pistol. Police said their investigation established that the three had killed Naidu.
