Housemaids arrested for alleged theft of 100-gram gold biscuit and ₹1 lakh in KPHB
HYDERABAD: Cyberabad police have arrested two housemaids on charges of allegedly stealing a 100-gram 24-carat gold biscuit and ₹1 lakh in cash from their employer’s residence at Indu Fortune Fields in KPHB Colony.
According to KPHB police, the case was registered on June 27, 2026, under Section 306 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) following a complaint lodged by Uddagiri Tata Rao.
Police said the alleged theft occurred on May 19, 2026, when the complainant’s wife, Naga Udaya Bhaskaram, reportedly left an almirah on the second floor of the house unlocked after accessing it in a hurry.
Investigators alleged that the two housemaids, identified as Konala Ramya, 36, and her younger sister, Karri Nagalaxmi, 34, noticed the open cupboard and allegedly stole a 100-gram 24-carat gold biscuit and ₹1 lakh in cash.
According to the police, the accused spent the cash and concealed the gold biscuit in the room allotted to them inside the villa for disposal at a later stage.
Gold biscuit recovered during search
Acting on specific information, KPHB police apprehended the two women at around 06.00 IST on June 30, 2026. Police said they recovered the 100-gram gold biscuit intact from their room.
The recovered property has been seized as part of the investigation.
Senior officers supervise investigation
The operation was carried out under the supervision of DCP Kukatpally Ritiraj (IPS), ACP KPHB Division E. Ravikiran Reddy, KPHB police station SHO S. Rajashekar Reddy, Detective Inspector K.S. Ravi, Detective Sub-Inspector Abdul Samad and the KPHB Crime Team.
Police said the personnel involved in detecting the case would be suitably rewarded for their work.
The investigation is continuing.
