Koutala student Ashrit builds wildlife detection robot

KOUTALA: A Class 10 student from Koutala has developed a robot to detect wildlife movement, aiming to improve safety for forest personnel.
Student builds robot to support forest staff safety
Ashrit, a student of Zilla Parishad High School in Bejjur mandal of Komuram Bheem Asifabad district, designed the robot using ultrasonic sensors. His father, Kondapalli Santosh, works in the Forest Department.
Robot detects animal movement and carcasses
The device identifies animal movement by capturing sound signals through sensors. It can also detect carcasses of dead animals and alert authorities.
Forest areas under the Kagaznagar division witness frequent movement of tigers from Maharashtra. Forest staff regularly track wildlife, including big cats, to prevent threats.
Plans to enhance robot with artificial intelligence
Ashrit said he plans to upgrade the robot using artificial intelligence to improve its efficiency. He spent ₹7,500 to develop the current model.
Officials said an application has been filed to secure a patent for the robot.
