Hyderabad doctor honoured with Dr. S Kameshwaran gold medal
HYDERABAD: Dr. B. Reshma, a civil assistant surgeon at the Koti Government ENT Hospital, has been honoured with the prestigious Dr. S Kameshwaran Gold Medal by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS). This award, highly respected in the medical community, recognizes excellence in the field of Otorhinolaryngology. Dr. Reshma’s achievement stems from her outstanding performance in the DNB final examination held in December 2021.
The Dr. S Kameshwaran Gold Medal is named after Professor Shanmugam Kameswaran, a renowned ENT surgeon and educator. Prof. Kameswaran, born in 1923, dedicated his life to the field of Otorhinolaryngology, mentoring numerous otolaryngologists in India over his illustrious career spanning more than 50 years. He was instrumental in advocating for welfare projects for the hearing impaired and promoting hearing rehabilitation among people from diverse backgrounds. Dr. Kameswaran’s contributions were recognized with the Padma Shri Award and the D BC Roy Award, the highest civilian and medical honours in India, respectively.
The award ceremony for Dr. Reshma will take place on May 10th at the Science Building in New Delhi’s Vigyan Bhavan. Her achievement is a testament to her dedication and excellence in the field of Otorhinolaryngology, following in the footsteps of the esteemed Prof. S Kameswaran.
