Hyderabad police form special teams to probe Koti robbery

HYDERABAD:Â Taking serious note of an armed robbery and shooting reported on Saturday morning in the Koti area, the Hyderabad City Police constituted special crime teams to investigate the case and trace the accused.
A case was registered at the Sultanbazar Police Station under FIR No. 28/2026, invoking Sections 109 (attempt to murder) and 309 (robbery) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with Section 27 of the Arms Act, 1959.
Cash brought from Kerala
According to the complaint, Rinshad P.V., 26, a businessman dealing in readymade children’s clothing from Kozhikode, Kerala, had arrived in Hyderabad on January 7, 2026, carrying ₹6 lakh to purchase wholesale stock at Dewan Devdi. As the purchases did not materialise, his cousin advised him to deposit the cash in his bank account.
On January 31, at around 7 am, Rinshad reached the State Bank of India main branch ATM on Bank Street, Koti, in a vehicle belonging to his friend. While he was depositing the cash, two unidentified persons approached him from behind and threatened him by pressing a firearm against his abdomen.
Shot fired, vehicle stolen
The assailants fired two rounds, one of which hit the complainant on his right leg, causing a bleeding injury. They then snatched the cash bag and the vehicle keys and fled in the victim’s car.
Police said the suspects drove towards the Chaderghat signal and proceeded to Nimboliadda, Kachiguda, where they abandoned the vehicle. After changing their clothes, they escaped on foot towards Kachiguda X Roads.
Probe intensified
Police teams are analysing CCTV footage, tracking technical evidence and coordinating with neighbouring jurisdictions to apprehend the accused at the earliest.
The police said ensuring public safety remained their highest priority and appealed to citizens to share any information related to suspicious movements by dialling 100. Informants’ identities will be kept confidential.
