HYDERABAD: A real estate businessman has complained to Medipally police that former Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to minister Konda Surekha, N Sumanth, and his associates attacked him, following which police registered a zero First Information Report (FIR) in an attempt-to-murder case and transferred it to Jubilee Hills police station.

Businessman alleges attack with iron rod

According to the complaint filed by G Harikrishna on Thursday, he is a real estate businessman from Chengicherla’s RTC Colony.

Harikrishna said Sumanth called him at around 5pm on July 30, asking him to meet urgently. Though Harikrishna told him he had just returned from his native place and would meet him the next day, Sumanth insisted that he come over.

Harikrishna said his friend Ramu also called him and asked him to come. At around 9.45pm the same day, Harikrishna went with his friend Kiran to Ramu’s office near the Jubilee Hills checkpost.

Ramu and Sumanth were present at the office, the complaint said.

According to Harikrishna, Sumanth became angry after seeing him, accusing him of collecting money by using Sumanth’s name. He allegedly abused Harikrishna and attacked him with an iron rod.

Harikrishna alleged that Sumanth also asked his associates to beat him to death and that they attacked him.

Victim undergoes surgery after sustaining injuries

Harikrishna said he already had a fracture in his left hand and suffered further injuries to his leg during the attack. He also alleged that he vomited blood following the assault.

Two constables who reached the spot took him to Jubilee Hills police station that night, he said. Harikrishna told police that he would return after receiving medical treatment and left.

He was treated at a hospital in Chengicherla, where his injured left hand was put in a cast. As the pain persisted, he underwent surgery on the hand at another private hospital in Uppal on August 10, according to the complaint.

After recovering from the injuries, Harikrishna approached police seeking action against Sumanth, Prashanth, Arun Kumar Reddy, Karthik, Mahender Reddy, Ramu and others whom he accused of attacking him.

Police registered a zero FIR and transferred the case to Jubilee Hills police station for further action.
