Konda Surekha rejects decision to sack her
HYDERABAD: Telangana minister Konda Surekha on Thursday condemned Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s decision to seek her dismissal from the state cabinet, saying she should have been given an opportunity to explain herself before the action was taken.
Surekha said her daughter was an independent woman and questioned why she should be held responsible for her daughter’s remarks.
“My daughter is an independent woman. How can you hold me responsible for her remarks? I do not need to condemn my daughter’s remarks. I have no authority to question her personal opinion,” Surekha said.
She said she was releasing to the media the letter she had submitted to the Congress high command.
“Before taking the dismissal decision, my explanation should have been sought,” she said.
Konda Surekha alleges ‘vindictive’ action by Congress
Surekha questioned what action had been taken against Jagga Reddy and MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy over their remarks.
“What decision was taken on the remarks made by Jagga Reddy and MLA Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy? I feel that vindictive action has been taken against me,” she said.
Surekha said she was happy that three Backward Classes women had got positions because of her.
“It is not right to target Chinna Reddy for my sake. Nobody asked me to resign. I have done nothing wrong and I have no regrets,” she said.
Surekha says she has not decided future course
Surekha said Revanth Reddy should introspect over the decision.
“After YSR, I admired Revanth the most,” she said.
She added that she had not yet decided on her future course of action.
