Kollur SI arrested for cheating woman constable

MOOSAPET: A sub-inspector posted at Kollur police station was arrested for allegedly cheating a woman constable by promising marriage despite being married and having two children.
The incident, which occurred earlier at Kukatpally police station, came to light recently. Suresh Kumar, a 2018-batch sub-inspector, was working at Kukatpally police station when he became acquainted with the woman constable.
Relationship led to dispute over marriage
According to police, Suresh Kumar allegedly told the constable that he loved her and would marry her. Believing his assurances, the woman developed a close relationship with him.
Later, Suresh Kumar was transferred to Kollur police station. Differences reportedly emerged between the two over marriage. When the woman asked him to marry her, he allegedly abused her by referring to her caste and refused to marry her.
Case registered under BNS and SC/ST Act
The woman constable lodged a complaint at Kukatpally police station about a month ago, alleging sexual assault and cheating.
Police registered a case under Sections 69 and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 3(2)(v) and 3(1)(r) of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
Following a departmental inquiry, Suresh Kumar was suspended from service. Balanagar Assistant Commissioner of Police Naresh Reddy said the accused was arrested on Wednesday and remanded to judicial custody.
