Case booked against school in Kollur over 3-year-old girl’s ear injury

Hyderabad: A prominent school in Kollur is under investigation following a severe injury sustained by a 3-year-old girl, which has led to a legal case being filed for negligence. The incident occurred on August 30, 2024, and involved the child suffering a deep cut to her ear, which necessitated major surgery due to the severity of the injury.
According to the FIR filed by the child’s father, a 36-year-old man, the girl returned home from the school, which is located in Kollur, around 09:50 hours on the morning of August 30 with a deep cut on her left ear and severe bleeding. The father reported the incident to Kollur Police Station at approximately 22:05 hours the same evening.
Initially, school staff claimed that the injury was caused when a cloth got stuck in the child’s earring. However, after taking the child to Citizen Hospital, Nallagandla, doctors diagnosed the injury as a scissor cut. The hospital’s assessment indicated that the injury was severe enough to require major surgery. The school later admitted their initial explanation was false and confirmed that scissors were involved in causing the injury.
The father has condemned the school for what he describes as extreme negligence and asked for strict legal action against the school’s management and staff. He has demanded accountability for the use of scissors on such a young child and has requested that legal proceedings be initiated to address the matter.
Inspector K. Ravinder has registered a case under Cr. No. 400/2024, U/s 125 and 125(a) BNS. The investigation into the incident has been handed over to Sub-Inspector M. Ramesh.
