Nagarkurnool man declared dead regains consciousness

TELANGANA: A 46 year old man who doctors declared dead at a private hospital in Hyderabad reportedly regained consciousness while his body was being taken to his native place, leaving relatives and onlookers stunned.
Guggilla Satyanarayana, a resident of Kollapur in Nagarkurnool district, was living in Rahmatnagar in Hyderabad with his family. He earned his livelihood through flower trade and decoration work and was locally known as a Congress party leader.
Satyanarayana visited a private hospital in Hyderabad on Monday due to illness. Doctors later advised advanced treatment, following which his family admitted him to a hospital in Erragadda at 7 pm on Tuesday. He was placed in the intensive care unit after doctors said his organs were severely damaged.
Doctors declared him dead at about 5 pm on Wednesday. His family informed relatives in Kollapur, where arrangements such as tents, chairs and a freezer were made at his residence. Condolence messages also appeared on social media.
While taking the body in an ambulance towards Kollapur via Rahmatnagar, relatives stopped near the Bangaru Maisamma temple. As mourners gathered and wept, Satyanarayana reportedly opened his eyes and moved his hands.
Family members said he nodded in response when they spoke to him. Alleging negligence by hospital doctors, they immediately shifted him to Yashoda Hospital in Malakpet, where he is undergoing treatment.
News of the incident prompted relatives in Kollapur to cancel funeral arrangements and delete condolence posts from social media. The episode has since become a topic of discussion in the town.
