News in short:
As of January 22, 2025, petrol prices in Hyderabad remain stable at ₹107.46 per liter, unchanged for the past two months. This stability is due to the "Dynamic Fuel Pricing" mechanism, which adjusts prices daily based on international crude oil prices and exchange rates. While petrol prices saw a significant increase in October 2024, recent global trends haven't caused further fluctuations. The consistent price is significant for Hyderabad, a major metropolitan city with a growing IT sector and increased fuel consumption. Factors such as international market trends, excise duties, and currency exchange rates ultimately influence the price of petrol in the city.

Hyderabad: As of January 22, 2025, petrol prices in Hyderabad stand at ₹107.46 per litre, with no change compared to yesterday. The price has remained stable for the past two months, holding steady since October 30, 2024.

The price of petrol in the city has not fluctuated over the last five days, with rates remaining at ₹107.46 per litre since January 17, 2025. This is a result of the “Dynamic Fuel Pricing” mechanism, which has been in place since June 15, 2017. Under this system, fuel prices are updated daily, based on the 14-day average price of crude oil and the rupee-dollar exchange rate.

In comparison, the price of petrol in Hyderabad saw a significant increase in October 2024. The price jumped from ₹105.96 per litre at the start of the month to ₹113.68 per litre by the end, a rise of 7.29%. However, recent global crude oil price trends have not caused any major shifts in local fuel prices.

Hyderabad, with a population of over 6 million, is not only a major metropolitan city but also a hub of technology, home to some of the world’s largest tech companies. The city has experienced rapid growth in recent years, with its expanding IT sector driving increased fuel consumption. As a result, petrol prices have become a key factor in the daily lives of its residents.

The price of petrol is influenced by international market trends, as well as local factors such as excise duties and currency exchange rates.
